چکیده

Case-based reasoning (CBR) systems define knowledge in terms of a memory or library of past cases and a retrieval mechanism that revolves around retrieving data relevant to a goal query. Additionally, such systems employ an adaptation component that transforms the retrieved data into a solution to the problem expressed by the original query. The combination of goal query and the subsequent solution transformation is referred to as CBR goal query. Goal queries are concerned with data that is close to the request expressed in the query. Conventional relational and objectoriented databases are usually concerned specific queries. Extending conventional object-oriented data models, this paper proposes a concept-oriented data model that provides a variety of mechanisms to support conventional goal and CBR goal queries. It is shown that such a conceptoriented data model could be used as the core for a more general knowledge base management

Towards the Development of a Socially-Informed, Process-Oriented Model of Research in Metadiscourse

Since the early development of interest in the interpersonal dimensions of academic communication in the 1980s, the analytic potentials of the concept of metadiscourse have motivated a large number of investigations. Although these analytic potentials have facilitated the study of diverse academic genres, there has always been a risk of detachment of textual analyses form the contextual origins...

Towards constructing an Integrative, Multi-Level Model for Cognition: The Function of Semantic Networks

Integrated approaches try to connect different constructs in different theories and reinterpret them using a common conceptual framework. In this research, using the concept of processing levels, an integrated, three-level model of the cognitive systems has been proposed and evaluated. Processing levels are divided into three categories of Feature-Oriented, Semantic and Conceptual Level based o...

View Concepts for Object-Oriented Databases

We present a concept to introduce external models in object-oriented databases to regain the traditional three level architecture of database systems consisting of an internal, a conceptual and several external models. In contrast to other approaches our concept takes into account all traditional features of external models such as submodeling, interfacing application programs and databases, lo...

Knowledge Discovery in Databases : A Rule - Based Attribute - Oriented ApproachDavid

An attribute-oriented induction has been developed in the previous study of knowledge discovery in databases. A concept tree as-cension technique is applied in concept generalization. In this paper, we extend the background knowledge representation from an unconditional non-rule-based concept hierarchy to a rule-based concept hierarchy , which enhances greatly its representation power. An eecie...
